Asphalt Binder Testing at Low Temperature: Three-Point Bending Beam Test in Dynamic Shear Rheometer
نویسندگان
چکیده
A novel Three-Point Bending Beam Test (3-PBT) using a Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) with linear drive motor is introduced for testing asphalt binder at low temperature conditions. This 3-PBT in DSR can be used as surrogate (BBR) tests. Advantages comparison to BBR are that (i) works without harmful cooling medium ethanol, (ii) the amount of significantly lower (using material equivalent 10% tests), (iii) silicone rubber mold specimen preparation instead standard aluminum tests, which makes handling easier, and (iv) loading protocol more practical applying contact load manually. The presented respect preparation, installation, conditioning specimens, well protocol. Tests were conducted temperatures ?10, ?16, ?20°C. For purpose identifying most suitable conditions from alternative setups, test series was run including 9 different binders. As two media used, i.e., ethanol air. Finally, all results obtained tests analyzed view precision correlation. correlated results, while found satisfying.

Evaluation of Asphalt Mixture Low-Temperature Performance in Bending Beam Creep Test
Low-temperature cracking is one of the most common road pavement distress types in Poland. While bitumen performance can be evaluated in detail using bending beam rheometer (BBR) or dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) tests, none of the normalized test methods gives a comprehensive representation of low-temperature performance of the asphalt mixtures. This article presents the Bending Beam Creep test...

Recycled asphalts were evaluated based on SHRP binder specification. DSR (Dynamic Shear Rheometer) and BBR (Bending Beam Rheometer) tests were carried out on samples of the recycled asphalts under three conditions: original binder, RTFOT (Rolling Thin Film Oven Test) residue and RTFOT+PAV (Pressurized Aging Vessel) residue. PG (Performance-Graded) classification was conducted. New straight asph...

The objective of this study is to evaluate the rheological properties and chemical bonding of nano-modified asphalt binders blended with nanosilica. In this study, the nanosilica was added to the control asphalt at contents of 4% and 6% based on the weight of asphalt binders. Superpave binder and mixture tests were utilized in this study to estimate the characteristics of the nano-modifed aspha...

In this paper, the possibility of improving the global response of asphalt materials for pavement applications through the use of hydrated lime and Electric Arc-Furnace Steel Slag (EAFSS) was investigated. For this purpose, a set of asphalt mortars was prepared by mixing two different asphalt binders with fine granite aggregate together with hydrated lime or EAFSS at three different percentages...
متن کاملEffect of Reclaimed rubber Modification on the Rheological Properties and Rutting Resistance of Asphalt Binders
In this paper, the effect of reclaimed rubber modification on the rheological characteristics of asphalt binders is studied. Reclaimed rubber with the extent of 12, 16 and 20 is added to the neat asphalt binder and then shear complex modulus is obtained for neat and modified asphalt binder via Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) test. Using Christensen-Anderson- Marasteanu (CAM) model, master curves ...
